The oils we use are light-weight and dry quickly, so they can be used any time of day!
Sunflower oil has wonderful penetrating and moisturizing properties. It works well with all skin types. Plantain oil is believed to have natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it a great oil for healing wounds, and for itching or pain associated with skin problems. It is moisturizing and aids in balancing and soothing the skin. The next star of this blend is jojoba oil, which is actually not an oil at all, but an array of wax esters. It helps to restore the skin's pH and balance its natural oils. Jojoba absorbs well and contains natural vitamin e, making it moisturizing without clogging pores - but we added Vitamin E oil for good measure! Plantain oil is believed to have natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it a great oil for healing wounds, and for itching or pain associated with skin problems. It is moisturizing and aids in balancing and soothing the skin. Calendula was thought to be a tissue healer in German folk medicine, and was historically used for cuts, bites, burns, sunburns, scars and other skin issues. It was even believed to be antifungal and a pain reliever. A favorite of owner Casey Downs, who calls a calendula oil infusion “liquid gold,” calendula is a very popular herb in skincare products, and has undergone many clinical studies that provide evidence of the plant's benefits. Lavender has a sweet, floral scent and has long been used in bath and body products. In fact, the name came from the Latin word “lavare” which means “to wash” and was given to the plant by the Romans who used it to bathe. Historically, lavender was believed to be antibacterial and antiseptic, so it was used for disinfecting minor cuts and wounds, as well as easing pain and supporting the body's natural healing process. The Egyptians used geranium to promote radiant skin. Herbalists believe it to help reduce inflammation, ease anxiety and depression, tighten skin and reduce wrinkles, clear acne and other skin imperfections, and relieve tension. Lemongrass is believed to have anti-aging properties, as well as being moisturizing and nourishing for damaged skin. The essential oil l is high in Vitamin C, making it an excellent choice for skincare. It is not only uplifting, but it is believed to help cleanse and naturally exfoliate the skin. Lemongrass is considered by herbalists to have astringent and antiseptic properties.
