Refresh Face Steam
Your new favorite self-care ritual!!!!
We are so excited to bring you two incredible herbal steam blends! Our face steam blends are not your average beauty ritual. These holistic blends were created with more than your skin in mind!
Our REFRESH face steam can be used for far more than rejuvinating the skin. This is a great blend to use for nasal and sinus congestion, for tension headaches (when used with other tension relief practices like intentional breathing, stretching, massaging sore muscles, etc), and to pep up your mood, clear up brain fog, and help you concentrate. It features calendula, peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus, and bay. Calendula was thought to be a tissue healer in German folk medicine, and was historically used for cuts, bites, burns, sunburns, scars and other skin issues. It was even believed to be antifungal and a pain reliever. A favorite of owner Casey Downs, who calls a calendula oil infusion “liquid gold,” calendula is a very popular herb in skincare products, and has undergone many clinical studies that provide evidence of the plant's benefits. Peppermint is a gentle, yet powerful herb, and beloved by many. It contains many vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, and more. Some herbalists recommend peppermint for nausea driving from pregnancy and motion sickness. Often used for colds, peppermint is thought to be antimicrobial and effective against a range of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. Rosemary may be a staple in hair care, but it's a lesser known fact that it is an herb prized for the mind. Herbalists believe it to help with mental clarity and focus, and may even aid in relieving headaches. Though it’s stimulating, rosemary was also thought to ease anxiety, depression, and tension in the muscles, as well as aiding in the healing of wounds. Believed to be antiseptic, antibacterial, and antifungal, rosemary was used historically in cleaning products, and is still added for its fresh earthy smell today. Eucalyptus is believed by herbalists to be antimicrobial and antibacterial, and studies are being done to support that, according to Medical News Today. Even those who are not familiar with herbal medicine are familiar with this plant's use during cold and flu season. Bundles of eucalyptus have been tied to many showerheads in hope of some relief for stuffy noses and sinus pressure. Eucalyptus may even stimulate the immune system! Bay leaves are believed to aid in clearing up acne, and are believed to help ease pain as well. A single bay leaf is typically added to recipes to balance acidity and burned to help purify the home or, in witchcraft, to make a wish.
Directions: Add one tbsp of herbs to the reusable tea bag included (you could also use a tea ball or disposable tea bags) and add to a large bowl. Pour boiling water over the tea bag, cover head with a towel, and position face over the steam for 10-15 minutes. For those with sensitive eyes, you may want to cover them with an eye mask or a towel due to the cooling sensation of the peppermint and eucalyptus. You can soak up the remaining herb water with a small towel and place over face afterwards for 10-15 minutes, or do this instead of steaming, OR use it over out DEVOTION face mask! Another option is to let the herbal water cool and to mix it with a clay mask, like our DEVOTION face mask! Again, avoid the eye area and cover them if sensitive.
